Welcome to the website of Frans Koeman Horses.

My name is Frans Koeman and since the age of 16 I have been active in horse business. I would like to take you into my CV.

About Frans Koeman

With years of experience in the horse industry, I have built up a name with Frans Koeman Horses that is equal to quality, performance and innovation. Personal attention and quality services are the cornerstones of my company. I would like to take you into my CV.

Hengstenhouderij Koeman

I grew up at Hengstenhouderij Koeman, the company of my father, where I started working full time at 16 years of age. Together with our driver and the stallions I traveled to all breeders in the country. In the 70s, insemination was not yet possible.

From course decks to KI

In 1976 the company was taken over by Mr. J. Schep and H. van Tuyl. Together with Lauw van Vliet I took care of the stallion husbandry department within the company.

We went with the approved stallions along the mare owners and trained young, not yet approved stallions, to present for the stallion inspection. One of the goals of both gentlemen was to realize the first KI station in the Netherlands. During this period I was in close contact with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University .

Only later in my career was the realization of this KI station realized.

Own stallion husbandry

In the early eighties I started working together with Jan van Tuyl independently as a stallion keeper and as a producer of horses in the Meersteeg in Echteld.

One of the first horses I was allowed to show for the inspection was the horse by Tiek van Uytert (father of Joop van Uytert), the stallion Prince Paradiso

Which was later successfully released in the 1.60 jump under Albert Voorn.

Some stallions I conducted management at that time are:

Ulft  from Mr. van Tuyl)

Stornello (from Mr. Goesten)

Damiro (from breeder/owner Mr. van Dam) Zonneglans (from Mr. van Tuyl)

Livingstone (Mr. Greve, Stal Hendriks and Stal Nijhof)

De Dalhoeve

By growing out of the company at the time, together with Nol Gerritsen and Faan Pompen, "De Dalhoeve" was founded.

My job was scouting interesting young stallions throughout Europe. One of the success stories is that of Contango, which was purchased at Hengstenhouderij Klatte from Lastrub (DE)

First freezing station for sperm

Based on our experiences, contacts and expertise, "De Dalhoeve" became the first stallion farm in Europe, next to the University of Utrecht, with a private sperm freezing station.

De Havikerwaard

In 1996 I continued my career at "De Havikerwaard" from family van der Kamp in De Steeg. The goal of setting up a stallion farm was achieved with successes through purchases of stallions such as:

Welt Hit II (successful under Leida Strijk) bought from Stal Schockmöhle, Dhr. Kasselmann and Dhr. Böckmann

Celano (successful under Rob Ehrens, at the time working at "De Havikerwaard")

Kojak bought from Hans Horn and Herman Seiger.

Stal de Molenweide

In 2000 we moved to my own location where "Stal de Molenweide" was started.

In addition to continuing the exploitation of the stallions of "Stal de Havikerwaard", I have further focused on the training of talented horses (to Grand Prix Level) and international mediation of dressage and jumping horses.

Many successful "matches" have taken place to this day, partly due to long-term collaborations with riders such as Marion Koldewijn, Alex van Silfhout, Diederik van Silfhout, Jan Dupont, Arthur van de Broeke and Lars op 't Hoog. Many horses are exported to countries such as America, Mexico, Japan, England, Germany, Belgium, etc.
